It's a clever attention-getter (works pretty good, doesn't it?)

What exactly would it take for God to get your attention? A natural disaster? A supernatural disaster? A personal loss?

Perhaps all it would take would be for you to recognize who God is and who you are in relationship to Him. Sure, it's humbling, but it's a lot less painful than other attention-getters.

And it is a whole lot less painful than leaving this world never having had your attention gotten...

Many, many years ago, in a garden called Eden, a man named Adam and his wife Eve were forbidden one thing: fruit from a particular tree. (chomp)

Ever since, we have been plagued with a sin problem in this world. We all do it. (chomp) Nobody has to teach us to sin (chomp, chomp). It's standard equipment with us. (chomp) In fact, we can't keep from sinning. (chomp, chomp, smack!)

To really make matters worse, our sinning (chomp) will eventually result in our eternal, excruciating punishment. (gulp!) Eternal! (gulp!) Excruciating! (gasp!) Except...

Enter Jesus Christ, Son of God. Not only did he pay the penalty for the sins of the world by dying on a Roman cross, (ouch!) but he promised to give us new hearts, hearts free from the bent towards sin that has plagued this world. (sigh)
